Hey, look what I have done!

- The motion sensor light outside has not worked for months. First it would
sometimes (I think rainy days) not shut off for days. Then, it stopped going
on. I put the switch off for a while and put it back on and the light did not
go on like it should. I thought I heard something in the wall where the wires
were. I was scared for months. :-o

Then, just last week I had a brainstorm. I brought the motion detector (first
time we had one where the motion detector was not connected to the light) inside
and put in new batteries. It works wonderfully now. :-) I was waiting for my
dad to come down and find the problem in the wiring... not needed by him or an
electrician for $$$. :-)

- The left slider in my car didn't 'stick' open. It would slide back on the
kids. I brought it to my mechanic and they thought it was all the junk in the
track *blush*. They cleaned it up, saw it work on whatever slope they had it on
and thought it was fixed. It wasn't. Months later the door started sticking
again (problem with Odysseys) and I went to the dealer to see where I should
spray lubricant. While I was at it, I sprayed to roller on the door, and the
locking mechanism.. ALOT because you can't see it, you just have to spray behind
and hope....

well.... now the door stays open!!!!!! Yeah me!!! Dealer had said most door
repairs are 300-700 as they have to take the door off and stuff. Yeah me!!!

- oh... and a month ago I fixed my remote control for the garage door opener.
It had been getting very tempermental. Sometimes it would work, and sometimes
it wouldn't . You had to hold it at just the right angle.

The fix? A trip to Radio Shack looking for a new battery. Why, what do you
know? :-)

OK, I was annoyed last night. I grabbed a box of bowtie pasta from the shelf to cook for dinner. As I was walking over the the stove, I read the directions for some dish on the side. The dish called for 12 oz of pasta. I thought that was odd...

I look at the box again, it held 12 oz of pasta. JEEZ... 12 oz? 12 stinking oz? that isn't enough for my family! Why are they short changing me? People before me dealt with shrinking coffee and tuna containers and I thought they were weird to be so upset. But, now they have shrunk a 1/2 gallon of ice cream down to something less and a pound of pasta going to become 12 oz.

Not fair! Not fair!

The heck with it, I am using names. If you think I am really making a mistake, comment/mail me and let me know.

When Rebekah was 6ish years old, she loved the Annie movie and wanted shoulder length hair, like Annie. I, the one who loves long hair, didn't let her cut because I was pretty sure she wasn't sure what she was asking for. :-) Well, now Rebekah's hair is half way down her back and thick and heavy. Two months ago I told her she could get her hair cut short if she wants. Why did I make the change? Because she is 9 and has a better idea of what she wants? Well, maybe a little... But mostly because I have a 5 year old with long hair... I can lose one. :-)

Actually, it is funny, Rebekah could use to lose a few inches off her hair cause it is heavy around her face. When I put it up, it looks good, but I don't do that all the time. But, now that she is older, I am letter her choose what to do, and I think it should be cut, she doesn't want to make it any shorter... ironic, huh?

If Alyssa looks up, her hair hits her tush, so it is pretty long! She also could use to get a little cut off, but she wants it to "grow to the ground and then back up again". Ummm... OK, I don't think so. LOL I think there might be histerics the next time she gets her hair cut... we will see. Maybe not, cause she does like the attention of getting her hair cut.

Over the last few years, my girls get their hair cut twice a year whether they need it or not. ;-) Matthew on the other hand is constantly getting hair cuts, or so it seems. The hair dresser does sometimes mention how long it is when I get it cut. LOL I can't let it get too long as it goes in his eyes and he complaines.

So, sorry you came here to read about hair? I will try to be more profound next time. :-)

So, which snow do you think was more fun, last week's 12 inches of powdery snow, cold weather and wind, or this weeks 2 inches of wet mucky, gooky, slushy snow? Well, it depends on the kid. :-) Dh had more fun this week as he didn't shovel and he made a snow man. Well, he and the kids were supposed to make the snowman, but who do you think did most of the work for the 5 foot tall snowman? R liked last week as she sled in the cold... she like today OK too. I think the younger two liked this week better. Last week they were OK the first day, but the second was way too windy. Today they played a lot and the snow was so packable, they were all able to get Daddy with snowballs. :-)

Talking about cold weather... You know you are in trouble when you put the thermostat up 1 measly degree because you feel cold and the heat pump goes over to auxilary. I wonder what my electric bill will be this month! Though, to tell the truth, I am surprised that auxilary comes on so rairly. Even when it is 10 degrees out, the heat pump seem to be able to keep the temperature without auxilary. Surprises me...

A child has been home sick every day since last Tuesday. This kind of stinks! I think M is going back to school tomorrow. There is just one who hasn't got it. Well, dh too, but hopefully he wont. R hasn't had it and she has a Dr. appointment tomorrow so will be out of school in the morning anyway. I hope she doesn't get it.

Anyway, I took R to the ortheopeadic yesterday. We went to John Hopkins as the Dr. there was recommended and it is close. It ends up there is nothing wrong with R... that they don't see a medical reason for her sporatic knee pain and we don't have to worry about it being anything that will get worse or anything. He said I could call it growing pains if I wanted to. :-) OK...

The Dr. we went to is a dwarf (Ok, you can find him now if you want, don't bother...) and he kind of specializes a little in dwarf children and their challanges. I was concerned taking R there as she is above 99% for height and I was concerned that some of her pain could be because of her height and LONG legs. As it ends up, we were seen by the resident first and he is 6'4", just like dh. Don't know why, but I thought it was funny. I guess he wouldn't feel weird dealing with 'tall' complications!

I am happy everything is OK.

We are looking into different middle schools for R.. maybe. We might stay where we are. Anyway, she has to take the IC? test on Sunday to see if she qualifies for the schools. I hope she is looking forward to it. It is a 3 hour test with 2 math fill in the bubble, two reading fill in the bubble and 1 writing section. We are supposed to supply snacks. It seems SO long!!! I hope she can pay attention well enough for that long. I promised her quite the treat (OK , bribed her) if she tries her best for the whole test. I told her I don't care what she gets, but I don't want her doodling and day dreaming during the test. I promised her a trip to Rain Forest Cafe... ugh. :-)

I can't blog about what my mom accused me of making myself sick over and I told her she was right. :-)

So, I will blog about the weather! A came home sick yesterday with 101.5 temperature. (Bill said he didn't remember if it was 101.5 or 105... MEN!!!!!!!!) She is home sick today on a very cold day. Weather bug says it is 18 degrees outside! Well, it started snowing. There isn't that much on the ground, and there is only supposed to be 1-2inches but the snow is falling pretty quickly. The kids went out over the weekend when there wasn't even a solid grass covering. They played in the sand snow pit. So, A had advil an hour before she saw the snow. The girl SOOO wants to go out!

"I'm not sick!!! I am better!!! I want to go outside" This is the girl who before advil was on my for 30 minutes without moving...

I DON"T THINK SO! LOL

I just watched the Jets playoff game. I think I am going to throw up. I don't think they deserved to win, but it sure was nice that they did! Now they have one more week before they lose to the best team in the league...

Michael's comment reminded me...

We picked up M's glasses yesterday. They look different than I remember them a year ago. :-) Maybe M grew a little? They look good. Yes Michael, there is a Santa Clause. Oh, I mean, yes they turn into sunglasses. They are transitions but the technology has gotten much better. When we first got them 2.5 years ago, the glasses tended to keep the tint even inside. Now the glasses are much better at getting clear. I think they also get darker though that has been hard to tell cause the sun hasn't been out in like, forever!

I finished the HP3 book from the library and the HP4 book we have at home. I am not sure if I will get HP5 from the library tomorrow to read over the weekend... Might want to wait till Monday so I spend some time with my kids. LOL But... I do have to sit for an hour, on Saturday, waiting for M to have visual training ( eye exercises). Hmmm... maybe - I think that means yes ;-)

The other library books I have just scanned. I see nothing in the trading spaces book that doesn't feel like reading something I already watched on TV. The Alton Brown books are OK... but not something you want to read, and read, and read. It is easier on TV to watch, do something else, and think that I don't seem to care as much as he does, but it is kind of interesting and fun. When you read the book, you can't do something else too.

REMEMBER ---- RETURN THE BOOKS and video tomorrow. I swear I support that library. :-(

We have some emergency plumbing work that needs to be done and for now have turned off the water in the downstairs bathroom. Ugh... I know someone will forget and use it. I guess the worse is that I put the water on, flush and turn it off again. Can't leak that much. ;-) Dad always said houses and cars were a PITA. Well, I don't think he has ever said A**. Heck, has he ever said butt? Well, they are a pain -- houses and cars, not butts..

remind me sometime to tell you about when R and A were talking and asked me if adults were allowed to say 'stupid'. A still thinks that stupid is the "s word". good night.

The downstairs bathroom is off a hallway right near the kitchen. A went in while I was finishing up dinner. My Mommy radar was day dreaming and A came out without me saying "A, your hands" just as she stepped out. She was standing next to the table with both hands behind her back and a cat who ate the canary look on her face.

Oooooh, thought Mommy brain... what's up... aaah, the hands are hiding, the toilet is flushing...

A, wash your hands.

"How did you know????" as she walks into the bathroom. Just like she used to be surprised that I knew she had to go to the bathroom. Like holding yourself and jumping around isn't a little bit of a hint. ;-)

Jeez. :-)

Last year Nana bought the three kids down Lands End winter coats from Sears. They are VERY warm and still fit. M's coat had a problem with the zipper. It zipped fine but sometimes got stuck and you had to play with it to get it to unzipper. Certainly more than M could do. Stupidly, I didn't do anything about it, it was too long, I didn't have receipts, Sears was too far away, I had bought it in NY. blah blah blah

Well, this year comes around and Nana bugs me ( :-) ) to call lands end and see what they will do. They once gave me a new diaper bag when mine ripped. I told them the bag was old, but they told me it didn't matter and sent me a new one. So, Lands End tells me I have to go through Sears as they don't have any record of the coat and that is where I bought it. I delayed again and Nana bugged again. :-)

I went to sears and waited a LONG time as cashiers talked to each other instead of working. AAAUUURRRGGGG Finally I told me story to a cachier and she said "I really don't know what we can do about this without paperwork" and just looked at me and waited???? I asked her "Can we get someone here who knows what you can do?" How stupid!

The manager came over, A started sitting on the floor saying she had to go to the bathroom, I told her to hold it in. :-0 The manager went over the story for a sec, I made sure to mention the word 'defective', and then he left, mumbling something about being right back? I told the cachier that I would be right back, and took A to the bathroom. When I came back, they had this year's version of M's coat there and I just had to fill out paperwork to get the coat!!!! YEAH!!!!!!!!

Thanks you Sears, but I am sure their contract with Lands End says they have to do that. I am sure they wouldn't do it with their own stuff.

This guys site is not for me, but the facts he has here about America's private giving (so far) for the relief fund is impressive! Amazon is up to 110,000 people giving over $7.5 Million. wow I pray it does good.

Google has a list of places you can make donations. Amazon has an easy one click donation to American Red Cross.

Thank G-d for technology getting the word out about this tragedy so all this help can be going there. It is not perfect but it will help. The radio this morning was saying that part of the country had a typhoon in the 80s which killed 100,000 people. :-( So horrible, but we didin't really hear about it. The world is much smaller now.

I am WAY too old to stay up till 3:45. I had two nice size naps the next day and still felt disgusting. Our version of the 4th book, took it out this afternoon, is hard covered. :-( I really like reading soft covered books more. I will give it a shot and if it isn't good I will just take a paperback out of the library. Have to return #3 anyway. :-) I probably wont get too much reading done this weekend, but next week I will!

The break is going OK, I guess. R seems to have a love hate relationship with camp. I think it has to do with hunger and other stuff. Sometimes she is just sensitive to hunger, or lack of protein, or blood sugar... or something. I is painful to watch. M and Alyssa seem to be having a good time. I haven't found as many play dates as I should, but I am taking them places and they really are their own best friends...

I have to run to the grocery and do laundry and get to sleep. Oh, what an exciting life.
