In case anyone is curious, when the temperature gets to 100, weather bug shows the temp icon in red instead of black. Wish I didn't know... This morning we had the plumber replace one of the three bathroom sinks he is going to replace. It looks OK, but it shows how cheap and ugly the cabinet is that it is in! This sink is in the downstairs bathroom and I will not replace the cabinet because we would have to redo the wall paper and stuff. But, the other two are upstairs and I have to decide what to do. The plumber's advice is not to bother because those vanities fit wall to wall and would have to be special ordered and would be expensive. I think I will run to home depot and decide what it would look like if the cabinet was smaller then the space...

When he was here, I brought Matthew and Alyssa to a playground. Blech, it was too hot! Even the lilac colored plastic slide was too hot to slide on. We only stayed 1/2 hour. They finished their drinks in no time and then just started complaining and hanging on me. Not my idea of fun!

Right now it is 101 degrees with a heat index of 110... wooopie! I think I will pack the kids up with bathingsuits at 4:00, pick Rebekah up and go to the pool. It is even too hot to be at the pool now. Even my basement (where the computer is) is too hot.

I am kind of perturbed at the optician for Matthew. Last Friday they said it would be 5 days, today I called and they said the frames were on back order and would hopefully be in early next week. Like, maybe they could have told me? The optician (lady) I talked to said the one who sold me the frame (man) would have been informed that the frame was back ordered. She unofficially agreed with me that he should have told me. Also, I told her I was upset because the man told me I could send paper work into blue cross/blue shield and get a reimbursement for some of the glasses. Well, I called BC/BS and I get nothing if I don't go to their opticians. The lady told me that the man was the manager (owner??????) and that he complains to her when she tells people they need to call the insurance to see what the coverage is or when she offers to call for them before ordering the glasses. Now, this really annoys me! I mean, I don't mind bad news, but I really don't like lies! I am wondering if I should cancel the glasses and get them somewhere else? Then we wouldn't have them for our trip to NC. The lady said the man was the manager and if anyone could make a deal on the glasses cause of what he said, it would be him... maybe I should just try to get some $$$ out of him? I so don't want to bother, but I certainly wont buy there in the future!

UGH, now it is a heat advisory through Friday! Originally it was through Tuesday and they keep inches it forward. Yesterday, the weather bug screen said predicted high, 94 and the temp was at 99. Today weatherbug says predicted high of oops, they took it off, it was in the lower 90s and the high today is at 102. Right now at 4:33 it is 100 degrees with a heat index of 106.. sick huh? Maybe the difference is I am getting the actual temperatures from Towson which is not near any water. Maybe they predict for Baltimore on the water? But all the concrete of the city should make it warmer too... who cares,it is obnoxious out!

Matthew slept 13.5 hours last night before I woke him up to bring Rebekah and Alyssa to camp! In the car he said he wanted to go to camp and he felt much better. Since it was the last day and he didn't even have his normal morning coughs, I sent him. He seemed OK though he didn't eat lunch. He is eating now though. This cold must make you very tired, both Alyssa and Matthew asked to go to sleep when they had it, and believe me, in the house of night owls that just doesn't happen.

I let Rebekah go to camp with her gameboy today (MANY kids int he Karate camp do..) and believe it or not, she came home with it! Her name is on the back and if she wants to bring it tomorrow (her last day) I will let her.

Bill wants to work late tonight. I am tired, but I think I might tell him it is OK... better during the week then on a weekend! Though it does annoy me that he tends to work over time because he isn't up to where he wanted to be (this time he had a surprise guest) not because he has a real deadline or anything... At least he gets comp time. Oh well... to love ones job is great, right?

Yesterday was so funny. I went outside to wait for Rebekah and I see a shower in my front yard. What??? The grass is SOPPING and there is water flying all over the place. My hose which was laying on the ground waiting for me to water the flowers sprung a leak. LOL OK, maybe you had to be there but it was funny. I felt a tad guilty because we are in a drought and I have decided to save water and not water the lawn... oh well, one section might actually turn green. I bought a new umm... end piece for the hose. If it isn't 200 degrees this weekend I am going to try to fix it myself! Should be interesting...

Matthew is home from camp today. His fever is gone but he is still coughing and sneezing, and has a belly ache. He is going tomorrow though, even if I have to drug him :-). It is his last day of camp and they are having a pizza party and carnival. Actually, he feels basically OK. He is just spewing germs all over the place. LOL

But... the big news is he has a loose tooth! Barely loose, it will probably take a long time till it comes out, but it is his first loose tooth! We were telling him about the tooth fairy and Rebekah decided to tell him everything... about the tooth fairy and about her questions about the existence of the tooth fairy!!! I _have_ to talk to her about that one! :-)

Bill came home early and I went to yet another dentist trip. The dentist is a nice man, I would like to meet him at a party, not in his office! Everyone in the office calls him by his first name. I guess cause he and his father own the practice and they both have the same last name... it could get confusing!

So, I sit down, he puts some numbing stuff on and then gives me a shot (I think 2). I didn't numb up so much so he gave another. He started work and I stopped him RIGHT away. It felt VERY cold. He said no problem, I will take out the super duper drugs. He started again and I was OK for a few seconds till I had to stop him again. The tooth in front was hurting. He gave me more of the super duper drug. Blech. I ended up having 5 doses and anastetic. The dentists suggests I use sensodine. :-)

So, now the anastetics (too lazy to get dictionary) has worn off and my tooth hurts! It was only a simple cavity, but on the side, not on the top. I had cuscous for dinner, that I could just handle. I guess I need to take a few advils... or a few shots. :-)

take care, brush well

Now Matthew has a fever too. :-( He refused the chewable motrin that Alyssa liked, but said the liquid was yummy.

I did most of the school shopping at Staples as they sent us 2 $10 gift cards for their new store. When I spent over $20 I considered returning some stuff and buying the rest at Walmart as I assumed they would be cheaper. I didn't as the kids would have been upset at putting their stuff back. Last night I went to Walmart to buy the bags/wipes/tissues and some cheese pizza lunchables (blech, they are a treat). I was very surprised to see that Staples was cheaper then Walmart for almost everything I bought! Amazing. Also, Staples has white glue on sale for 20 cents, maximum 8, if anyone needs any!
Oh man... the lunch box I wanted to order for the kids is out of stock. :-( They mention Aug. 19 as a date they think they will get it in and school starts Aug. 26. I guess they could start with their old ones? Or should we just head out and buy regular store ones?

We bought school supplies today. It was fun, it was frustrating and it was ridiculous! I have a rant and I have some guilt about the trip. Which one should I write about first?

My guilt... We had a lot to buy, 5 notebooks, umm 8 folders and lots of other things. Well, there were all these fun notebooks and folders... powerpuff girls, animals, hearts, tie-dyed and other stuff. What do I buy? The plain colored folders for 10 cents a piece and the plain colored notebooks for 6 for ummm something. As a kid, I would have loved all the exciting stuff and the extra money wouldn't keep food out of our mouths or anything... but... I don't know, I can't see 'wasting' all that money. I probably care more then the kids, but, on the other hand... :-)

The rant? These school supply lists are ridiculous! Look at Matthew's list. The kids share all this stuff. I mean, really, 10 glue sticks and white glue and _2_ boxes of magic markers... 250 glue sticks and 50 boxes of magic markers sound like a lot for a class. At least Matthew only had to buy 1 box of tissues, Rebekah needed 2 (they even said large) boxes of tissues. How sick do you suppose they are going to be? Her class of ~25 kids will have 50 boxes of tissues. Where are they going to store them? We are lucky enough to be able to afford this, but these lists are large, it would be a hard or impossible hit into many people's budget!

Alyssa isn't feeling well today. (Jennifer, hope she wasn't contagious on Saturday). She said the cutest thing! "me have a frog in my body" Isn't that cute? I guess she was feeling achy...

Good night,
Amy

I left Bill downstairs and left the computer on as I always do. Rebekah went downstairs and I didn't think anything of it. Well, before dinner Rebekah came upstairs and said some weird things like do you remember when Alyssa was being so cute. I asked when and she said when Alyssa smiled a huge fake smile at you???? What was with that??? Then at dinner Rebekah said some weird things and I finally got it... duh. M "Rebekah, did you read my blog?" LOL Good thing I don't curse or talk about sex and stuff here. I don't _think_ she read anything she isn't supposed to know, though I did write about her birds and the bees question.

I guess it is OK but I am going to close my browsers when I am done from now on. LOL Oh yes, she especially likes it when I write funny works like Aurgh and blech. :-)

We had a very busy day yesterday and a pretty boring day today. Yesterday we drove up to PA to visit Jennifer and her gang. They were sooo nice! and the kids had a good time... I think. Alice was a little overwhelmed by three kids barging into her space at the beginning but once they all got to know eachother it was nice. I forget how overwhelming my kids can be. They aren't REAL loud or busy or any thing, but they are (almost) 3,5 and 7. Having 3 strangers barge in has to be a LOT for a kid. Too bad we don't live closer, I think they could be good friends. I do NOT remember my kids as being as tiny and as cute as Sammygirl! (I think of her as Sammybaby as that is kind of what I called her to the kids so they would know who was who when they met. :-) I carried her just a little but she was SOO obviously so much happier in Mommy's arms.

Jennifer and Anthony have a real nice house and yard. She says that she cleaned up before we came, but I think she is such a wonder woman that her house always looks that good. :-) Me on the other hand... give me some warning before coming over, huh?

After Jennifer's we went about 45 minutes to a party of someone Bill works with who is moving to California. It sounds like he is going to some Air Force base kind of near Death Valley but in the middle of nowhere???? Actually, he said the town he is moving to is 40,000 people but that sounds like nowhere to me. LOL It was a nice party still in the middle of Amish country and the farmer who used to own his property was next door and had nice horses to watch. There were only two problems. 1- there was no AIR!! You suppose the humidity could drop a tad please? and 2- they had dogs... BIG dogs :-). They were sweeties and quiet and all, but Alyssa and Matthew were freaked when they saw them. I kept them separated for most of the party but they left in histerics. Oh well...

It wasn't a bad ride home from there maybe 1 1/2 hours... I think it would have been shorter to go to Jennifer's house a different way, oh well. But, we still didn't get home till 11:00. Both Rebekah and Alyssa were awake and Matthew had fallen asleep at 10:55. I do have weird kids. :-)

Today I didn't wake up till 11:10 and we were supposed to be at a birthday party, 15 minutes away at 12, and the kids weren't dressed! :-) We made it just a tad late but we didn't have time to wrap the present. But, here is where the problem is, we can't find the present! It is one of those books you put into the machine. Rebekah was walking around with it this morning and now we can't find it! We have looked everywhere! I know if I just buy another one, I will find the first one. Maybe I should turn over a glass? That is what my Aunt and Mom always say to do if you lose something. Turn a glass over and you will find whatever it is... whatever...

bye bye
