There is something about the abuse in Iraq that bothers me TONS that has nothing to do with politics, who is right, who is wrong, and what should be done about it.

This story has been out for months! There was an AP article that was in some newspapers in either January or February. Nothing was made about it. Now that we have a picture, all hell has broken loose (right or wrong it doesn't matter).

Why do we not treat anything seriously unless it can be a visual media thing. Shouldn't we have treaten this seriously when we first heard of it, not when we happened to find a picture? Isn't the story the important part, not a picture?

How warped is our exposure to things because we don't hear stories unless it is "good TV" or "good newspaper" with a picture. How warped is it that we didn't hear anything about this story till the media decided they could get ratings now, with a picture, and has made it such a HUGE story. Look at the difference before and after picture, it is sad.

I have reached a milestone in my family!

Three times today, I unlocked the doors to the van, Matthew opened the door, Matthew and Alyssa climbed in. Then, Matthew shut the door and Alyssa and Matthew both buckled _themselves_ into their seats.

I did nothing but unlock the door, go into my seat and buckle myself in! WOOOOPPPPPIIIIEEEEEEE. I thought it was great after over 8 years when Alyssa went into the booster and all I had was 3pt belts... now this????? wow! :-)

Amy

We were _this_ close to getting one of the kids on "A Baby Story"... well maybe not that close, but it didn't work out anyway. All three kids started to go to gymnastics on Monday evenings. The first week we were there, they were giving out release forms for the next week. One of the families who had girls in the class were going to be taping for "A Baby Story" the next week. Unfortunately, the next week they were running late and cancelled the kids' gymnastics and cancelled taping at gymnastics. Oh well. :-)

Supposedly, their show might air next November or so. The woman is due to give birth (homebirth) in June, I think. Her husband is on the Ravens (or works for them? I think he is on the team??) and she is going to be in the Mrs. USA pagent in August.... after giving birth in June... jeez. :-) She is WAY gorgeous. Not swollen, or puffy or anything, even this pregnant. She just looks like she has a basketball in her shirt, nothing else.

Oh, I asked her how she arranged to be on the show. She sent email to the show, telling her story, just like anyone else! Jeez, how could they turn her down?

I think I might make a point of seeing that show. If someone thinks of it, can you remind me when it will be on. :-) I don't seem to be watching pregnancy shows anymore, it seems so long ago... my baby will be 5 before this show is on!!!!! I seem to be spending much more time watching house decorating shows, even though I never get much done. :-)

We are just starting the eye training for the kids so the homework will be changing over time. Right now, both kids have the same work. There are details to this, but basically this is what they do - they have to look at their finger for 5 seconds each up, left, right and left to their face. They also have to read from a matrix of letters. Each row they read the first half of a row on a chart on the wall, then the second half on a little slip of paper close to their face, then back to the wall again. They do that with 1 eye covered, then the other. Then they hang a handball type thing from the ceiling and hit it back and forth to eachother, alternating hands. I am sure they will get bored and fight it later. Right now Matthew fights a little because the first one is very hard for him to do. Rebekah is starting to get bored already... she is not good at repetion!

The schools seem to hold everything till May! It is so busy! This week, Matthew has night time reading at school one night (in PJs, he says he doesn't want to go), he has a chorus concert (well, almost :-) ), they have fitness day, and I am sure other stuff. Rebekah has a play, a field trip and other stuff I can't remember. Also, they both have CTBS testing. blech The C in CTBS stands for California, I wonder if CTBS is related to the California achievement tests I took as a kid?

I am busy this afternoon, as I am every Monday, but somehow it isn't as bad as other days. Maybe cause the activities aren't far and I have an extra 5 minutes or so. Here it goes... Pick up Alyssa at 12. Feed lunch, pack gymnastics clothes, pack snack (or money for McD icecream cone or italian ice :-) ). Go to Alyssa's speech at 1:30. Leave straight from there to pick up Rebekah, drop off carpool, pick up Matthew, snack in car, gymnastics (now it is close to my house, we switched), get changed, go home (5:45-6:00). Get dinner ready and start homework. LOL it is busy, and we hope for not too much homework, but somehow it isn't as stress filled as other days... don't know why.

Big news. Rebekah will not have homework this week!!!! YEAH!!!! CTBS testing has its benefits. We finished the book report which is due Wed. and have to start on some project to make something that is like an historical place in Baltimore. I don't even know what media we will be using, we have been suposedly working on it for weeks. Oh well, I guess this week is good to start. I think it is due the 15th.... or 17th.

Not fair. Jennifer lives less then 2 hours from here. Her weather person is wearing shorts and short sleeve shirt in sun. My weather person is wearing long pants, short sleaves and is in rain holding an umbrella.

NOT FAIR.
