Life just seems so busy right now. At least tomorrow is getting closer to normalcy. Rebekah's school will be open tomorrow, a day earlier then expected. Alyssa's school will be open, 9-12. Matthew's school is one of the only 10 public schools left in this county without electricity. I wonder if he will get back this week! Well, at least we will get some 1 on 1 time.

Today was such an up and down day. The day started off a little funny. I woke up and put Alyssa's light on and her music on in her room to wake her up. I went to my room to start getting ready. Well, next thing the phone rings. It was Alyssa's teacher calling to remind me that there was no school at her school today because it was teacher classes or something. UGH. I had completely forgotten. I hadn't sent her to school since last Thursday as I didn't want to wake everyone up and get them all dressed just to bring Alyssa in for 3 hour preschool. My family loves its sleep too much. :-) I was going to get everyone up today cause it was too much already and Alyssa had tennis lunch class today. So, anyway, Alyssa was up from the music already so our day started. It was a good morning, hanging around and then going to the park/bike trail for a few hours. That is when life got tougher. :-( Alyssa threw a major tantrum getting ready to go home. The story is too long to tell. part hungry, part tired, part 4yo stubborn, part PITA, part over-reaction. Whatever... it was ugly. Then it just got worse with two friends over to play. The bottom line, I think is the two friends don't get along that well and they fight over Rebekah...

So, for a while now we have two new rules at our house
1- if friend A is here, friend B can not come over
2- if friend B is here, friend A can not come over

I hate these rules as I would like to just have anyone stop by who wanted, but it will be better this way, I hope. Well, now that school is starting up again, with homework and all, there will be less time for problems.

I was going to write more, but I got VERY tired all of a sudden and Bill is out of town so I have to bring the garbage out!!!

good night

Oh, and Rebekah is riding her bike beautifully and Matthew seems to have gotten over his fear of his bike. :-)

The big news? Today we brought the kids and their three bicycles to Matthew's school's parking lot. (can you really have two prossessive "'s" in a row?) Alyssa rode all around on her training wheeled bike, Matthew played pokemon cards and EVENTUALLY RODE HIS BIKE (training wheels), and Rebekah RODE A TWO WHEELER. This is like huge. She has been gliding down our driveway without peddling a few times this summer but hasn't wanted to do it lately. She has been enjoying her scooter which other people said would help but I didn't believe.

Well, today, Bill just gave her a big push and she went about 20 feet! Then, by the end of the session, she could turn (OK, she only turned to the right come to think of it :-) ) and she could ride for oh, almost 5 minutes at a time. She just needs some practice and to learn how to start by herself. I am soooo thrilled. We are going to go out and ride again tomorrow (oh, OK, later today). I promised Rebekah that I would buy her a new, bigger bike if she learned how to ride. I hope I can talk her into waiting till the spring. :-) I am guessing she will get a 24" bicycle which means that will be her last 'childrens' size bike and the next one will be an adult size!

Everyone is outgrowing their bicycles. Alyssa has a wonderful 16" purple girly girl, hardly used bicycle waiting for her. Matthew... well maybe we can get away with just raising his seat all the way, we will have to see in the spring. I hate to buy him a new bicycle if he doesn't get over his dislike of them...

Oh, yes, I so have to appologize to my family. This was like the PERFECT video camera day and I didn't think to bring it. Rebekah was riding her bicycle and Alyssa was trying to keep up on her little one... so CUTE!

Good night.
Boy, I am tired! Why aren't I sleeping? I guess I have to be careful now, I told some more family about the site for the wedding pictures. No more talk about my secret life! :-)

We are doing fine with the hurricane. We ended up losing electricity for 5-10 minutes and lots of times the lights went off for about 1 minute then back on... very weird. These weren't flickers, the lights were off for long enough to find a candle and then they came back on.

Before the kids went to sleep, the lights did flicker a couple of times. Matthew and Alyssa were seriously freeked. They didn't want to be alone to go to sleep cause the lights flickered. Good thing they were asleep by the time we lost electricity. At the worst of the electrical outages, one county near here had 93% of the households without electricity. The county where I live still has 1/3 of the houses without electricity now, 48 hours after the storm.

Lots of things are still cancelled. Soccer was cancelled today because the country closed all the county fields. I am guessing because they are so wet, they will get destroyed if played on and there is still lots of debris on the fields. Talking about debris... we had oh, almost 1/2 a tree fall down on our driveway. A neighbor came out and Bill and he cut the tree down and rescued our cars, which were trapped. :-) We hired someone to lug the stuff away and to put some siding back up. Some people sure are busy right now! But... he charged $100 for lugging it away and if we brought it to the dump, it would have been $40 per carload and it would have taken AT LEAST 2, if not 3 completely filled minivans. Of course, we could have wraped it up in little 4 feet bundles not more then 4 feet in length and not more then some random weight, but hey... that would have taken at least an entire weekend of work... some oh, 24 hours of work or something.

Now the problem is the other half of tree which is still standing. It is not more then 12 feet from our garage, and 20 from our house. Unfortunetly, all the branches and leaves left on the tree are weighing it in the direction of the house.

Oh, big news but probably nobody is reading this far so I will write another post right away.
