The kids and the next door neighbor did sparklers outside tonight. The neighbor and Rebekah really liked it and had fun. Matthew and Alyssa sat on my lap and said it was too loud?????????? I guess they were scared by the light and 'fire' but they were very clear that it was too loud. It made a little sizzling noise but was not loud. Maybe the sizzling was scary. I guess it would make sense for nature to make us scared of fire sounds. Who knows.

The other day I saw this little weird car turning near my house. It kind of looked like a small PT cruiser but was more refined somehow. It said "mini" on the front. I wonder what it was. I also noticed that the front liscence plate said "Motor Week". I think Motor week is from MPT which is just down the block from where we saw this car. Kind of cool to see them out on a test drive, I am surprised I never noticed it before. This road is right outside my development and goes down a curvy, narrow path. It probably is a good road to test the handling of a car. I have to keep my eyes open for more test drives. :-)

The unbearably hot days have finally stopped, for now. Tomorrow we are supposed to do some lanscaping. Hope we get a lot done...

Fireworks was both a success and a not-success this year.

Originally I wasn't really planning on going to fireworks. But, Rebekah was so excited about going. She went on and on about how she was so excited about them. So, I found out where some were going to be and off we went. It was a mistake. :-) Rebekah liked them! She did sit in front of me and kept my hands over her ears, but she liked them and we were pretty darn close.

Lets just say Bill had walked far away with Matthew and Alyssa by the time the fireworks were really going! Alyssa seemed to calm down in the middle, but Bill thinks she just fell asleep. LOL Matthew on the other hand, had ear plugs in, Bill's hands on his ears, and his own hands on his ears. He was still crying and (I guess) writhing with the noise. Blech... By the time we walked back to the car, Matthew said he didn't cry... yeah, right kid.

Bill didn't get to see much of the fireworks. If I find where some will be tomorrow night, maybe just he and Rebekah can go... we will see.

We didn't get out of the fireworks traffic till almost 11, and home 20 minutes later. But... do you think any of the kids fell asleep in the car? Of course not... and they were bickering with each other too... Oh well.

At one time Alyssa was annoying Matthew (on purpose) and Matthew said he didn't like Alyssa anymore and was going to marry Rebekah instead. Bill told him not in this State he wont. :-)

After days of Rebekah wishing I hadn't signed her up for camp, Rebekah likes it now. I told her I was going to let her sleep in tomorrow and then bring her to camp late. She was like "why?" I told her because if I didn't, I would have to wake her up in 7 1/2 hours...she didn't care. Tomorrow is one of the days she gets to ride a horse, she doesn't want to miss that. She also doesn't have art, which has a scarry object (scupture, I think) outside... whatever, it is only 3 weeks.

Good night,
Amy

Obnoxious weather update...

Weather bug had a high of 101 today and now, at 11:31pm it is reporting 81 degrees. Yucky pooey blechy! Boston is predicted to be 99 degrees tomorrow. When had our house there we only had one little window A/C in the family room... We would be soooo miserable! I guess it would be a mall/movie/camping in the family room type of day. HUGS to all you guys still in New England. At least here the house stays cool with the A/C, even if I complain.

A funny story about Alyssa and underpants. We ride over railroad tracks to get to Rebekah's school and to Alyssa and Matthew's camp. Well, when we started going to camp, Alyssa would say Ooowww and complain every time we went over the tracks. She never did this before and I wondered why she started now... Who guesssed? She didn't have the padding of the diaper anymore and her poor tush was hurting bouncing over the tracks. LOL

Rebekah had a real tough start to camp, but things seem to be coming together nicely. She seems to be enjoying it a little bit and does like parts of it. I explained some of the facts of camp (it is like school, you need to listen, blah blah blah) and used positive reinforcement (OK, it was a bribe) to help convince her to try her best. If she has a good day at camp, one where she tries her best, not necessarily perfect, we can go straight to the JCC for 'free swim' after camp. One of the problems with camp that she had was swim. She didn't understand it was a lesson, with a teacher, and not free swim. They only have free swim on Fridays and she wanted much more. It seems to be working out.

Both Alyssa and Matthew seem to be enjoying their camp too. Whenever I sneak a look, they are busy and playing so I guess that is good. Their camp is only M-Th 9:30 - 1:00. It gives me some time but is not too much for them. I like it... and it was cheap too. LOL They don't get swimming in this camp so the enforced JCC trips every day are good for them too.

Happy forth of July everyone... well at least those living in US, though I guess everyone could have a good day on the 4th day of the 7th month. I don't know if I will go outside tomorrow. It will be HOT again and the JCC is having a DJ at the pool which is usually much too loud and crowded for my bunch. What a party crowd, huh? If the kids go in our little pool or slip and slide or sprinkler, Bill can do it. :-)

I did buy some corn on the cob today so I guess we will have something a little special. OH, I also bought red white and blue decorated cup cakes. I don't know why I bother... we always loved holiday cup cakes as kids (tradition...) but my kids don't seem to like them. Well, the parents do! :-)

My mom and dad bought us a combination DVD and VHS for our anniversary. We are loving it and I rented some movies today. Maybe we will just watch them tomorrow... I do have pop corn in the house. We have Pokemon 3, Pollyanna and Men in Black. That should keep up busy, huh?

Oh yes, Bill is back from a successful trip to Germany. Among other great gifts, he came home bearing stuffed bears and German (and Swiss) chocolates... yummmmmmmmm

Good night...

WeatherBug has it as a high of 100 degrees today! That is downright obscene! I would much rather 50 then 100...

BLECH. I can't be out in this weather and not be in water...

Now at almost 7:00 it says 91 degrees. Is that sick or what? Thank goodness for air conditioners!

Now that I don't feel so SICK, I am going to write more often. Right now I am just going to give the big news of the family...

For the first time in over 7 years... I do not have to buy diapers anymore!!! :-) Alyssa is wearing underpands day and night. :-)

Oh, and yes, I owe Lisa a nice email. I should probably stop waiting till I have time to write the perfect email and just write SOMETHING....
