We are now home alone in Maryland. Mom and Marlene went back to NY, I will miss them.

Matthew has a kind of love/hate relationship with his glasses. Sometimes we can convince him that they are really cool, and that he should love them. Sometimes he rips them off his face and says he wont wear them. I think they are a little tight, but he wont really admit it. I guess I will bring him back to the optician's on Monday, Rebekah's first day of school. :-0

Matthew's new school had an open house today. We got to walk through the 5 or so classrooms he might be in... UGH, it seems so much for a 5yo. We know who his home base teacher will be, but he can change classes for math and reading. He will also be going somewhere else for speech and OT. I hope it goes OK!!!!!!!!!!! He was very nervous going into the school, but felt better after being in the classrooms for a while. Who wouldn't? There are toys, lofts, been bag chairs in the great reading corners... things on the walls he recognized... I am happy he was feeling better by the end, the teachers seemed nice.

Bill just brought Alyssa down as he has to change her sheets... We were snuggling on the futon trying to get her to go back to sleep while he changes the sheets. Jeez... how does a child ever fall asleep? Flipping, and flopping. Twisting, holding, moving, kicking, scratching... why can't she just stay still, shut her eyes and go to sleep? Oh well, time to go up.

This whole accident thing is very new to her. She fell alseep watching TV and Bill just carried her up and put her to bed. Well, she didn't go to the bathroom before bed so she of course had an accident. We should have thought of it... but I don't remember any other time a child of ours has fallen asleep downstairs right near bed time! LOL

I don't have the energy to enter much, but wanted to send out some pictures...

Bill and I walked on the boardwalk at Jones Beach one night... alone... after a dinner out, by ourselves. :-) It was wonderful but I am really a mom. I kept on thinking how much the kids would like ti there...

I am reading some of my mail here on my Mom's Outlook. My mail reader at home only reads text, not html. I also filter a lot of spam directly into the wastebasket. Between the filter and only getting gobbly-gook for html, I don't see alot of my SPAM. Well, reading it here has been an eye-opener! I get a TON of spam, much of it is crude... as in pictures of women embedded in the mail. Jeez... Rebekah will be getting old enough to want her own mail account soon... how do we manage garbage to her account? Hmmm... Such a waste of perfectly good bandwidth too. I never realized how much of my garbage mail includes pictures and graffics. Some of the mail I get is smart enough to realized I can't read html and just normally gives me text. What a waste...

Hi everyone. I haven't been able to get good computer time in a long time. I drove to North Carolina to see my Mother-in-law, then drove back to Baltimore. After 1 whole day in Baltimore we drove to NY to see my family. It is at least nice that we haven't done much driving here. Bill went back home on Sunday and my kids and I will be going back with my sister and Mom tomorrow. I hope it goes well, but I do not want to pack! :-)

I don't have time to tell about everything we did, but I have some hints for people and boy, did Marlene take some great pictures! I will post those after we get home.

Hints:

If you go somewhere where there is a chance your daughter will be picked to hold a humingbird before it takes off after being tagged... take a camera!!!! Boy, I wish I had one there! But, there was a lady there who said she took pictures and will send me one. If she does, I will post it. Matthew wants me to put up a humingbird feeder. It is pretty easy, I probably will next year.

If you go to the beach with your 5yo son, have a good time and remember to tell him to look the other way if the wind blows sand toward you. We had a boy who wouldn't open his eyes for HOURS and ended up at the ER. :-( My old pediatrician (on the phone, after hours) said it was probably sand under the lid, but MAYBE a scratched cornia and we should go to the ER. When we got to the hospital, everyone was saying, oh, he scrached his cornea. They all thought the worse. They prescribed drops and advil and tylenol as they said he would be in a lot of pain for 2-3 days. The next morning he woke up, didn't complain, opened his eyes and played nicely. He eyes still seem a little sensitive, but not bad. The ER Dr. said he should go to an opthamologist the next day, or Monday. When he woke up OK, I called our pediatric opthamologist and they said we can wait till we get home. I have an appointment for Thursday. BLECH... someone always get hurt or sick when we are here.

When you drive long distances, children will reach eachother. It doesn't matter if they are in captain seats in a minivan, they will reach across and _TOUCH_ eachother. Sometimes in play, and sometimes not. :-)

If you go to Dutch Wonderland on a day which is 99 degrees, you should bring a stroller for your almost 3 year old. If you don't, your 2yo will be very hot, and demanding, and clingy. It wont matter if you are hot, don't want someone on you and don't feel like carrying an extra 30lbs all over the park... she will want to be held.

Really, we have had a great time! Even with the things I complained about, the hummingbirds and hike were GREAT. The beach was really fun till the sand and thunderstorm incidents. Dutch wonderland was great, the kids loved it and it even cooled off later in the day. We have been very busy, but have gotten some swimming time in and the kids have loved that and the 'bubble museum".

I will write more when I am home.
