Oh yes, we got Matthew's glasses fixed. The other lady tried to charge me the $20 but I told her the other lady was trying to get them to cover it.... Lets see if they ask me to pay in a month or something. Maybe I should fight the insurance company again on Monday, I am on a roll!

Matthew LOVED shopping for wrapping some birthday presents with me today - it doesn't take much. :-) Nice to have some 1 on 1 time with him though, doesn't happen too often. Poor middle children. :-)

Bill is home and it is nice!

We have been planning more and more for our trip to California. I am really looking forward to this! The only problem is I have made a list of things I have to do before we go and it seems like a lot to do in 2 weeks! Also, we have to pack for 5 people for 10 days... OK, we will do some laundry somewhere, but we will be gone for 10 days and need 1 very dressy outfit each and one dressy outfit each. UGH. We hoped to keep everything in 1 garment bag, 1 large suitcase and 1 medium/large suitcase. I hope we can fit. At least summer clothes are smaller then winter clothes, we have that going for us. We once went to PA during the winter as a family. The medium/large suitcase was COMPLETELY filled with boots, glove, hats and snowpants for the kids (not parents). We had the two suitcases full just for a long weekend.

Bill and I are already having discussions about what to bring on the plane with us. He wants to go as light as possible, which I kind of understand but he doesn't understand how much we NEED. I mean we will be on a plane for over 5 hours with 3 kids and southwest does not feed a meal. I need to entertain the three (no jumping off the plane somewhere that has a play gym) and feed them for that time. That is a LOT of stuff. I think Bill is hoping we can go with 1 backpack or something. Aint going to happen. To bad Hon... :-)

As a completly unrelated topic, I am thrilled about the Tour de France, but I am nervous for Lance Armstrong. I feel something might be wrong. He had cancer several years ago. He has now had an amazing recovery and has won the Tour 4 times in a row and has probably won this year. But... During the long time trial, he got VERY dehydrated. To be that dehydrated in a (comparatively) short ride seemed weird. Today he said something to the effect that this has been a very hard Tour - some of the reasons people know about and some of the reasons people don't know about. I just have the awful feeling that he is fighting cancer or something again... I hope not!!!

Today can be busy if I want t be productive, or I could be a lug if I continue to be tired. Anyone want to take a vote?

Last night really started off nicely, but ended up poorly. I gave the kids a quick dinner and brought them to the pool. Unfortunetly, the pool was only open till 7:45. After the pool we watched some people play tennis and I tried to explain the rules to Rebekah. Sure is hard to explain if you aren't just learning by playing. So many rules and she kept on asking questions. :-) Then it was dusk already but we went to the playground there anyway. After Matthew got over the fact that it was the "forest" and scarry, they had a great time. So far so good, I got them home fairly easily by promising they could catch fireflies at home. They had a great time chasing fireflies and hula hooping at the house.

Then... things kind of went downhill, big time. It was kind of my fault we were having such a great time, I kept on letting them play. Well, I was exhausted and so were the kids. Alyssa started fighting listening to me and getting ready for bed... big time. I was just too tired to make up some game and put in a lot of energy into getting her ready for bed. I got ugly :-( Alyssa cried. :-( Rebekah complained about the crying and yelling. :-( Oh well... it passed. but today I am going to be careful not to get so over tired.

I probably fell asleep before some of the kids. Then, I woke up at 1:30 or so. If I had finished the kitchen I would have just rolled over and gone to bed.. but noooo. I had to go down and clean the kitchen and while I was there I did some laundry and was up for a while. I don't know how tired I will be today. I so miss having Bill here, and it isn't only because he cleans the kitchen and starts the kids getting ready for bed. :-) He will be home late tonight. I can't wait!

We have not had a good glasses day and a half. Yesterday Rebekah came upstairs asking me if I could fix "it". I asked what 'it" was. Ended up the "it" were her eye glasses. They were totally cockeyed. She said she had put them on the floor. I tried to bend them to at least stay on her face. I got them to be fairly straight, but they were obviously still not good. I finally got her to admit that she stepped on her glasses. I think she understands now that she is NEVER to put her glasses on the floor. I did a quick reading in the distance test and it is a good thing I have an appointment for her in 2 weeks... she needs new glasses. :-( Probably why she took these off, they are not working real well anymore.

This morning, Matthew's glasses broke. THe arm fell off. I was putting his shirt on when he was wearing glasses, but that shouldn't have broken them. I kept them both home and went to the optician. They ordered a new arm for Matthew and said it was $20. I said I thought that being the glasses were less then a year old it would be covered under warentee. They mumbled about having to send the arm back to the company. I said that is not worth $20, he needs his glasses. THey finally said they would cover it under warentee and send the arm back after we have the new one and hope the company will insure it. The glasses are 11 months old, but really, they should not break like that. I didn't make a big fuss over $20, but I shouldn't even have had to ask... Especially as I am probably buying 2 pairs of glasses there next month.

After they both have 2 pair of glasses, I hope I will be able to put new lenses in their older pair of glasses. At least till they outgrow them anyway. I hope eye glass problems don't run in threes.

I guess I will have to make the returns to Kohls tomorrow. I got Matthew a pair of pants for the wedding. Actually, I bought 2, I have to go back and return the bigger ones. The shoes I bought him were a great deal, and I risked buying them. But they too have to go back. Sooner or later I will have everything I need for the wedding. I guess I need some stuff to entertain them on a 5.5 hour airplain right too.

Bill should be in Portland Oregon my now. It is just me and the kids.

I have a confession to make.

My name is Amy and I am addicted to the Tour de France. I watch the d*mn same coverage of OLN over and over again. It has been an incredible tour (so far) but it is cutting in on my sleep time. :-)

Having OLN on all the time has also convinced me of something else. I do NOT understand wanted to ride a bike up mountain after mountain, and I do NOT understand running with enranged bulls with very sharp, angry horns.
